Lib Dems say local residents are left crossing their fingers and hoping it doesn’t rain

Local Liberal Democrats are appalled that Wokingham Borough Council’s local flood risk management strategy report has been delayed yet again. The report was pulled from the Executive’s January Agenda before their meeting took place this week.

Cllr Tom McCann (Loddon ward) said” The Conservatives have deferred this report until February, but who knows if it will be delayed again. In July the Conservatives said they hoped that residents and businesses across the Borough would respond to the consultation. But we had to point out to them that the majority of the consultation responses have been missed and that is why at this late stage the report has been delayed yet again.

”This is not good enough, flooding in the borough is an extremely important issue and has a severe impact on local residents and businesses. This work cannot just be put off and strategic action to tackle flooding cannot be undertaken at such a leisurely pace.

”Residents want action and the Lib Dems will continue to push the Conservatives into action on this issue. “
