An Earley School For Earley Children

Catchment areas across Wokingham Borough have been bizarre for years. We’ve needed a new secondary school in Earley since the Tories closed Alfred Sutton Boys’ and Girls’ secondary schools years ago, but the Tories have done nothing about it.

The situation is far worse now the Tories have closed Ryeish Green School. Children from the Cutbush area of Lower Earley are in the catchment area for Bulmershe School, and have to travel past their local school, Maiden Erlegh, to get there. This is ridiculous and completely unacceptable.

Earley Liberal Democrats have been saying for years that there should be an Earley School for Earley children, and an independent study of our schools, commissioned by Wokingham Borough Council, agrees with us. The Tory-run council has ignored Earley residents’ wishes for too long, and that’s why we’re starting a petition ( watch this space ), but in the meantime make your views known and complete the public consultation here.
