Votes 5% Up in Town Council Elections

Our Town Council vote increased 5%

We're pleased to announce that Earley's Liberal Democrats defied the national trend and increased our share of the vote in May's elections - up 5% from 39% to 44% in the Town Council elections.

On the Town Council, Jenny Lissaman, Munir Ahmed and Tahir Maher all successfully defended Lib Dem seats in Whitegates; while David Hare and John Eastwell took two new seats in Maiden Erlegh, and in Redhatch, Nigel Holloway defeated the Conservative Town Mayor.

Admittedly, our success was marred by results in the Wokingham Borough elections, as well as defeats in Radstock (Town Ward), but nevertheless results were very positive for Earley:  we increased our share of the vote and our number of council seats.

Earley's Lib Dems are now looking forward to a bright future, we have a strong team of councillors on Earley Town Council prepared to challenge and hold the Conservatives to account politically, and as the only true alternative to the Conservatives in Earley, we believe the only way is up.
