Community Notice: Thames Valley Police Release End of Year Crime Figures

Thames Valley Police has released its end of year (April 2013 - April 2014) crime summary figures for Wokingham.

The figures show an overall rise in crime of eight percent, the first time crime has risen in Wokingham since 2007, however Burglary is at its lowest level in 15 years.

Ch Insp Robert France, Local Police Area Commander, said: “We are, of course, disappointed to see a slight rise in overall crime in Wokingham, however the area has seen sustained decreases in crime over recent years. Even with this small rise, the overall reduction over the last three years is 27 percent, with over 1900 fewer victims of crime.

“Despite this slight increase, the numbers for Wokingham are very low compared to other areas and we have seen a further decrease of 12 percent in domestic burglaries, which is one of the most impactive types of crime to the victim and we know is a significant priority for our local communities."
