EARLEY ELECTION RESULTS - LIB DEM VOTE SHARE GOES UP 5%

On Thursday May 22nd Elections were held across Earley to elect councillors to its three seats - Hawkedon, Hillsdie & Maiden Erlegh - on Wokingham Borough Council.

The Lib Dems fielded a candidate in each ward  Clive Jones, Keith Yabsley & David Hare for Hawkedon, Hillside and Maiden Erlegh respectively.

We’re glad to say that despite poor election results elsewhere, the Lib Dem’s share of the vote in Earley increased by 5% overall, and by 10.8% in Hawkedon where the election was incredibly close, with our candidate, Clive Jones, missing out on being elected by only 63 votes.

The votes were as follows:

Hawkedon
1st Michael Firmager (Conservative) 925
2nd Clive Jones (Liberal Democrat)  862

Hillside
1st Christopher Smith (Conservative) 1230
2nd Keith Yabsley  (Liberal Democrat) 620

Maiden Erlegh
1st Paul Swaddle (Conservative)  1045
2nd David Hare  (Liberal Democrat) 502

Elsewhere in the Borough, the Lib Dem Council leader, Prue Bray, took over 50% of the vote, increasing her share of the vote by 6.3%; and Imogen Shepherd-Dubey lost by a mere 11 votes in Evendons.

All our candidates would like to thank each of our hard working campaigners, supporters, deliverers and voters for your help and support.
