candidate for Wokingham. 
Clive Jones has been selected as the Liberal Democrat prospective Parliamentary candidate for Wokingham. He was selected in a ballot of Liberal Democrat members.

Steve Scarrott, Chair of the Wokingham Liberal Democrat Local Party said, "I am delighted that our members have selected Clive as our Prospective Parliamentary Candidate (PPC).  He has campaigned across Wokingham for many years and will work really hard in theconstituency, making residents’ voices heard and standing up for Liberal Democrat values."

Prue Bray, Leader of the Liberal Democrat Council Group on Wokingham Borough Council welcomed Clive saying, “Clive has been a Liberal Democrat for many years, and is a seasoned campaigner.  I am standing down as Wokingham’s candidate, safe in the knowledge that Clive will work his socks off for the Lib Dems.  We are already working together on the important issues that matter to residents.”

A delighted Clive Jones said, "The Liberal Democrats have been very effective in Government and I look forward to letting the voters in Wokingham know about our many successes.  The Liberal Democrats have a lot to be proud of, such as the income tax changes which make it much fairer for the lowest paid workers, free childcare for working families and free school lunches.

“I am ready to meet residents in all parts of the constituency, in Wokingham Town, in Aborfield, Winnersh, Earley, Shinfield, Swallowfield, Spencers Wood, Mortimer, Burghfield, and Sulhamstead, and speaking up for all residents, wherever they live in the constituency.

“I am ready for the fight and eager to get on with taking the Liberal Democrats forward in our communities across Wokingham constituency.”

Things you may like to know about Clive Jones:
  • Clive is the Vice Chair of Earley Liberal Democrats and has become well-known in the area as the editor of their Focus newsletter that is delivered to over 10,000 homes in Earley every month.
  • He is currently the Lib Dem Treasurer of Wokingham Local Party
  • Clive came to Earley in 1974 when his parents moved to the area from the Isle of Wight. He finished his education at Woodley's Bulmershe School, leaving in 1976.
  • He joined a toy manufacturer and importer as a management trainee and worked his way through the business to become Sales Director for 5 years and then Managing Director for over 10 years. 
  • He started his own toy business 4 years ago.
  • Clive is the current President of the British Toy & Hobby Association (Chair 2004-6). The BTHA is the trade organisation for the UK toy industry.
  • He is also a trustee of a children's charity that supports charities who work for disadvantaged children. They have built an orphanage in Malawi for children who have lost their parents to AIDS. They support small children's charities in the UK, too.
  • Clive is married and has two daughters at university.
